Vilma Peguero

Vilma Peguero, originally from the Dominican Republic, is a highly accomplished musician known for her exceptional skills as a soloist and chamber musician. In addition, she is widely respected as a teacher and mentor within the Dallas community. Her impressive career includes solo performances with esteemed orchestras such as the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the Dominican National Symphony. Notably, she also participated in a chamber performance as part of the Texas Musical Outreach concert series.

As a beloved teacher, Ms. Peguero has shared her expertise at institutions such as Baylor University, Richland College, Brookhaven College, Greenhill School, and The Hockaday School. She has dedicated herself to teaching cello and coaching chamber music groups, leaving a lasting impact on aspiring musicians. Each summer, she co-directs the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Young Strings Chamber Music Camp, a program that nurtures young minority talent. She is also a Certified Suzuki Cello Teacher.
 
Ms. Peguero’s musical journey started under the tutelage of Martha Gershefsky at Columbus State University, where she developed her skills as a cellist. She continued her education and earned a Masters in Music from Southern Methodist University, studying with Chris Adkins. Demonstrating her unwavering commitment to growth, she continued studies with Eugene Osadchy, further expanding her musical knowledge. Currently, she serves as a member of the Dallas Opera Orchestra and orchestras in the Metroplex.
